For diabetesschweiz I produced the second episode of the podcast “My Diabetes and I”
To find out how people with diabetes live in Switzerland today, I visited three people from different generations. Anais, the youngest, carries the continuous glucose monitor with her as a matter of course and thus has her blood sugar under control around the clock. In the 1970s, diabetes was dealt with very differently, as Susanne from Reinach BL tells us in this episode. She was a small child when she was diagnosed. There were no blood glucose meters yet, and because her aunt told her horror stories about her imminent blindness, she couldn’t sleep at night because she was so scared.
Sven had just become a father in the 1990s when he developed diabetes. Treatment options were much better back then. Sven has also stopped pricking his bloody fingers: the insurance broker is happy about the benefits of CGM, continuous glucose monitoring.
In the podcast “My Diabetes and I”, the three diabetics talk about how they deal with the disease from different perspectives.
